1900's Johnson Fare Box Trolleys Streetcars Buses from Petersburg VA GS00027
This token collection box was used and salvaged from the Historic Petersburg, Virginia area. It was most likely used on a trolley or streetcar in the early 1900's. Made by the Johnson Fare Box Company of New York and Chicago, it has stamped Patent dates of 1912 and 1914. Next to the makers mark with serial number (48634) is a coin counter (currently stopped at 43799). The front view of the token box has a label slightly peeled away that reads "Deposit Your own Fare". This token box has a manufacturing number of #76 which is also stamped on the same side. It runs on 12 volts and the original electrical plug is missing.
Measurements: 25 1/4" tall x 7" wide x 6 1/2" deep. Weight before shipment is 47 pounds.
