This chest is from the Civil War era and is in amazing condition for it's age. It is made of Heart Pine wood with iron hinges and recessed back plate drop handles on each side. Some existing paint does remain on some areas of the chest and is seen in pictures. The wood is still very solid with minor split lines here and there.

On the inside of the lid you can see remnants of wooden brackets which probably held some type of tool/blade/knife inside the chest. The exterior lid at the top center has a section of wood applied and raised up from the flat section. More than likely, this section was used for identification/labeling/contents etc.

Measurements: 39 1/2" long 19 3/4" tall and 22" deep.
