Rare Civil War era bottle found in Richmond, VA from the Mason & Burns Beer/Mineral Water/Soda beverage company. The model number for this particular bottle is 51130AC which also confirms date produced of 1859. The company was located on Main street in Richmond and operating between 1859-1862.

Also known as a "squat bottle" that held either water or beer. The bottles are historically significant because many were likely used by the Confederate Army during the Civil War, especially those found near Roanoke Island, NC, after the 1862 battle.

Hollow block letters were used on each side of the bottle. One side shows large initials of M & B while the other side spells out the makers names and location - "Mason & Burns" "Richmond with VA in small letters and under Richmond. Bottom shows sand pontil mark.

Condition: Two interior surface scratches are seen. First one is directly under the blob top and the second one is in-between the letters "o and n" in the word Mason. Also visible are various brushy surface roughness along with a few small air bubbles.

Measurements: 7 1/4" tall by 2 1/2" in diameter.

Note: Materials, handling, shipping, insurance and postage included with price.
